Project 1 review:
Ashley Mastrogiovanni, Michael Bono, Damian Arbuckle

- On Olivias blog we thought the harmony picture was interesting. At first we thought it was upside down and after reading the description we realized that it was a reflection of the image in the water.

- On Pasama's blog we liked the movement picture. It was interesting to see the straight away of the track flow into the curve, making the appearance of movement.

- On Maddie's blog we liked the space picture. The palm tree's in the picture are emphasized by the space between them

- On honda's blog he demonstrates "color" with a picture in downtown tampa, of a set of red chairs amongst light brown bricks and green vegetation. The contrast is amazing between the hotter and lighter tones.

- On hanna's blog they portrayed balance with the tennis courts. the net separates each side and there are white lines separating it also. Each side has a bench and a square box that surrounds its side of the court.

- on Ziona's blog she has a zoomed in photo of either her lips or someone else's but this picture represents texture. We like this photo because you can really see all the little details and true texture.

- On taylor's blog, the picture of the minaret from 13 century emphasized the angle of the picture. In this picture the minaret seem huge compared to the palm trees. Which is obviously is bigger.

Color Assignment:

Bright yellow is my favorite color. It is the color of sunshine, light, and happiness. It has a personality that matches mine which is: bright, bubbly, energetic and positive. You cant  help but smile when you look at something yellow. It is not dull, sad or boring. It stands out in a crowd and draws attention to itself.

Pre-Zombie Apocalypse: 2/24/14

This picture could have been taken at a giant warehouse store selling goods. Some examples of what this store can be is: a super Walmart, a Publix, a Target or Stop and Shop. The picture has: drinks, snacks, food, candy, soda, water, shelves, cans, boxes, cleaning supplies, price tags, caution wet sign as well as 2 people. The picture seems like an organized chaos. There is a lot of different colors , shapes and sizes all in this one small area. The people in the store seem to be curious and are trying to find/pick what product that they want. They are possibly overwhelmed by the amount of products in front of them and are having a hard time deciding.  It appears to be a snapshot from a security camera. Before this image was taken it is a calm store with not too many customers. After the picture was taken, the store was overtaken by Zombie's and other blood sucking creatures that are determined to take all the resources the store provides for them. This photo is trying to convey that as Americans we have more then we need, in other countries they have never seen so many products in one area. We are a society full of consumers who want more then we actually need.

Follow up: 2/26/14

After listening to Tim speak I was able to understand a lot of his work more. He creates every aspect of his sets and uses his family a lot in his work. When I was looking at his work, the one photo that really stood out to me was titles "Good and Plenty". When I first looked at it, it seemed pretty messed up to have children sorting drugs. After he talked, I was able to learn the story behind it and it didn't seem so bad to me anymore. I shouldn't take the photos so literal next time, I should look at different aspects of the photo and see the different parts that makes it what it is. Tim talked about how sometimes inspiration comes from anything and to talk to some friends to help come up with a fun or different idea. For my next project I may ask some of my friends their ideas and opinions to help take my work one step further.

Claire Sherwod: 3/25/14

5 observations:
  1.  uses a lot of baking items in her work
  2.  uses videos to show some of her work

  3.  In the piece "Begin" why did you decide to wash away the piece you made instead of just leaving and using it as your final product?
  4.  How long/ how many takes does it take you to have a final video that is ready for posting?
  5.  Where did you get the inspiration for your sprinkle piece?
Follow up:
After hearing her explanation, it made her work a lot easier to understand. At first to me her work seemed very domestic and that she was a wannabe baker. After talking to her, she explained that it was more a play on domestic work. She actually isn't that great of a cook and not very domestic so she decided to add it into her work to show what its like to be a working mom. She had a lot of earthy tones and you can tell in her personality that she seems real earthy. Everywhere she lived there was a different a different kind of dirt or rocks so she tried to show that in her work. My favorite part of her blog were the videos, my main question was why she chose to do the videos instead of just taking a picture of her final product. She explained that the videos was more of like a game between her and her friend and they kept sending videos of different work back and forth to each other. After talking to each artist it is interesting to see that their personality matches their work.
