My journal starts off with a photo depicting typical stereotypes people have of sororities. When most people hear that word they just think of girls who party a lot and don't take anything too seriously. The next picture in my journal is there to challenge the misconceptions seen in the first picture. What if you were to look beyond the cup? The picture states that both women who were in the U.S. supreme court were part of a sorority. It also says that greeks have an average GPA and graduation rate higher than non Greeks, which is even true here at the University of Tampa. The next part of my journal depicts what looking outside the cup really means. The pictures are of philanthropy events in which we volunteer and raise money for certain causes. It shows the good that we do in the community. The next quote I have says "first you are a part of it, and then it becomes a part of you". It continues the theme of looking beyond the cup and breaking misconceptions of sororities. All these pictures show the excitement, bonds, and memories that greek life has given them. They are snapshots of unforgettable moments. The next quote shows that it doesn't matter what sorority or fraternity you are in, they are all connected in a special bond that some people will never understand. The picture underneath that depicts the bond that all greeks share. The second to last picture sums up my thoughts about greek life and my sorority in particular. Even though I am miles away from home, my sorority makes me feel at home. It shows that there are more to sororities then just partying and having a good time. They actually have an impact on your life and the people's life that they help. My final picture is of my sorority. It shows all different types of girls and break the notion that all girls in a sorority are blond haired and stick thin. We are more then just an organization, we are a sisterhood.
