The picture of the Spartan warrior represents “Shape” while the picture of the UT basketball court represents “Space”. The Spartan is in the shape of a human, sculpted out of a metal and polished a bronze color. Among the sculpture there are many shapes to see. The shape of a circle for his shield, triangle shape in his armor, and long rectangle shape from his sword. The space is empty because nobody is there. Its an empty space consisting of basketball nets, curtain dividers and lights hanging from ceiling. You can see the school colors red, white, and black.
The picture of the hallway represents “Line” and the other picture is a painting from the UT art studio representing “Color”. The hallway in my dorm is a good display of distance and how the lines all run to one point which would be found at the end of the hall way. Because of these lines moving down the hallway it makes it seem like it’s getting smaller and smaller the further down you look. The painting is of a curtain hanging on a wall, you can see so many colors in this its hard to point any out. The small details capture about all of the colors in the rainbow or color wheel. Generally the colors you see in this painting are a warmer tone.
Proportion- stadium outside eating area: The eating area looks amazing from above. It has a couple of circular features that provide shade for the people around them but also has different structures that create a half circle around the outside.
Unity- The poles in stadium have many different small blocks that come together to make a design on the poles. You can see in the picture that different blocks have different colors and textures that bring the design together as a whole.
Variety- Bridge over the walkway: This bridge is created by many different shapes, including a couple of cylinders and the structure on the left side of the bridge has different textures on the top of it. The color change at the top is another way the structure has variety.
Rhythm- Straz: The Straz dorm has many rhythmic ways. The windows flow on all sides of the building which creates a rhythm. Also, the roof of the building has a rhythm with different sizes of the borders along the top.
Movement- The Martinez building has different patterns and textures that move the eye around the building. It has a pattern that allows the eye to travel along the pattern easily. Also, the cars and people walking in this picture have given more areas for the eye to focus.
Balance: If this picture were cut in half it would be the same on both sides. Each side would have: 2 palm trees, a green shrubbery, an eagle wing, the same part of the statue, and the same part of the rock formation. The center point is the statue and everything around it is at visual equilibrium.
Emphasis: When looking at this landscape the first thing that catches the eye is the tall green stalk of the flower. It is the first thing you notice because it is the largest figure, a different shape, and is placed directly in the center.
Harmony: There is a balance use of similar elements throughout this picture. There is a repetition of: the rectangular red bricks, the shape of the windows, the curved bricks above the window, the straight line from the 2 different parts of the roof, and the line in the center of each window.
Texture: The top of each section is very rough to the touch. The front is a lot smoother until your finger touches the small cracks. Certain parts are rounder and stick out more compared to the rest or the bark of the palm tree.

What Do You See?
This image depicts an average weight girl looking in a
mirror. When she looks in the mirror she sees someone who is extremely
overweight. If someone else were to look at her, they would see someone who is healthy and clearly not over weight. This image depicts the
struggle of body image in girls today.
3.Stage fright: Panama and OJ
Ranking For perspective projects: 3/24/14
6. Facebook addict:Diana and Sophie
-
I like how the background is blurred so it shows
how all they see is their phone and not their surrounding
-
I like how it has different forms of technology
and not just one type
9. Warship: Zee and Hazel
-The cropping
was done well, it emphasizes the fact that you are looking through something.
4. the step: Kyle and Taylor
-
Sizing was done well because it emphasizes that
to an ant a shoe seems huge
-
The angle also is done well because it makes it
seem like you are actually looking up at the shoe
11. The fly:Jessica and Maddy
- they have
an imagine of a fly looking out at the world. It appears multiple times because
a fly sees in multiple images instead of 1 like we do.
-
its what the performer pictures when they get on
stage
-
it is very creative
2. Acid trip:Dan and Tony
-
I like how it is half normal and then half
edited and distorted
-
They did a good job editing the color and
distorting it
-
It was really different and and creative
-
I like how they have both perspective the lsd
point of view and the normal point of view
1. Football tackle: Scott and Richard
-
I like how you can see the facemask so its like
you are wearing the helmet and seeing what the person is seeing
-
They blurred the background this way you focus
on the quarterback and not the other players
8.Goalie’s point of view:Stephanie and Kat
-
Everything is blurred but the ball so it shows the main focus is the goalie
- it is a
little confusing though to see where you are in the picture
7. A new beginning: Damien and Arielle
-Immigrants
are passing the statue of liberty but it is blurred out so you can tell it is
in the distance
- its hard
to tell what the focus of the picture it is
- I really
like the idea of it and that they decided to do it in black and white
5. Texting while driving: Michael and Hannah
- The road
is blurred out and the message on the phone is really all you can see
10. Pitchers mound: Ryan and Nick
-blurs out the crowd and everything on the field
-It focuses
in on the the glove and where the pitcher intends to throw the ball

Transcending Numbers Final: 4/4/14
Final Group Project:
Ashley, Dan, Tony, Jess, and Diana
Our project is based on the point of view of a college student. The process of this project was taking photos that represented the typical college life, editing them, and choosing an order to put them in so the project has a nice flow to it. Our first photo is multi framed. It is a sequence of a college student starting to study. The photo also consists of framing of the image, point of view, shape, movement and line. The second photo represents Life and Death . To a student getting a good grade on an exam is everything and getting a bad grade is like death. This also has framing of the image and emphasis,. The third photo moves on to what a college student do in their free time. On nice days a lot of students like to throw a football around. It is a symbol for an american lifestyle because football is a great representative of what american like to do.It also has shape, color, and space. The next photo is a metaphor for "Party Animal". To represent this metaphor we used stuffed animal surrounded by alcohol. It also has texture, color, shape, and variety. Our final picture is of a girl "coming out of the closet". It is a double entendre. College is a time when a lot of people realize who they are and aren't afraid to hide it so that is why we decided to use it for our double entendre.
Group Evalutation:
Overall our group worked very well together and was able to come up with a concept that we all agreed upon and was able to execute together.
Diana: "A" She took all of the pictures and edited them for us. She also played a major role in the idea thinking process.
Jessica: "A" She was a subject in a lot of our photos. She worked hard with us to try to execute each photo and contributed a lot of ideas
Dan: "A" He always showed up ready to work. He helped us execute our ideas and when our first concept didn't work out he help us think of a new concept to work on.
Tony: "A". He was always helping behind the scenes. He helped out get props for each photo and was always there to give his opinion on what would work in the photos and what would not work.
Ashley (Me): "A" I played a big part in coming up with the new concept to do when our first one didn't work out. I put the project together and wrote up our synopsis and our process for the project.
